Additional Notes & Applications
Teaches how the floodgates of evangelism will open when the time is right.
Displays how Jesus is sensitive to the weaknesses of the people.
Teaches until we can show it and live it, Jesus doesn’t want us to spread a wrong perception of Himself. Don’t take on positions of teaching, pastoring, helping, etc. if you know your not qualified.
Teaches until we can show it and live it, Jesus doesn’t want us to spread a wrong perception of Himself. Don’t take on a healing ministry or pastoring position if you know your going to come off as a fake or hypocrite.
Some see Jesus’ call not to tell anyone as a psychological ploy to get the them to do just the opposite. Mark writes, “He commanded them that they should tell no one; but the more He commanded them, the more widely they proclaimed it” (Mark 7:36). Likewise, Luke reports that immediately after Jesus instructed the cleansed leper to “tell no one”, “then the report went around concerning Him all the more.-(Luke 5:14) Others believe Jesus didn’t want the people to go around saying who He is because it would put Him in a mold, a category, a title, that the people of His day had pre-defined thereby hindering His work.
