“Teaches how with some people even after witnessing miracles all around them it’s not enough, they still want more.” ⇒ Anything God does is not enough. They can hear of life’s being changed by the grace of God. Addicts being transformed, convicts freed from a life of crime, marriages being saved, cancer miraculously disappearing, prodigals coming home, hardened hearts softening, yet it’s not enough for them. “Warns how building our faith on miracles will always leave us wanting something bigger and better.” ⇒ Miracles are never going to open anybody’s eyes. In fact if anyone saw a miraculous sign, they would want another sign to prove the other sign was really a sign. Miracles were never meant to be the diet that sustains faith, the Word of God is. We should never think that the only way are faith will survive is if we experience some new move of God every time we open our bibles and go to church. Maybe you go to church to experience some over-the-top, well-programmed perfect worship experience to feed your faith. And at first it did feed your faith, but in order to sustain that spiritual high, you needed a little bit more and a little bit more each week, and then when it fell flat your faith falls off a cliff.
“Even today, people will say “If God only performed some sign then I would believe. But no matter how many miracles people see they’re gonna find a way to explain it away: “It really wasn’t God speaking, it was just thunder or just our imagination.” ⇒ Miraculous signs are often met with skepticism or rationalization. Instead of accepting miracles as evidence of God at work, people frequently attribute them to coincidence, natural phenomena, or even their own imagination. This pattern reveals that the desire for signs is not truly about seeking faith, but rather about continually looking for reasons to doubt or explain away what has been witnessed. True belief is not sustained by miraculous events; it is nurtured by a heart open to God’s Word and truth, regardless of visible signs.
