Extended Sermon Notes
“Teaches how believers should be a place where sinful people can go to find hope, encouragement, and grace”⇒ Are you a person people can go to and say I’m a sinner and I need help. I want the life you have,
“Even today, in a world marked by hatred and division believers are to be agents of love, hope, grace, and encouragement. Where there’s hatred, sow love. Where there’s judgment, forgiveness. Where there’s injury, pardon. Where there’s doubt, faith. Where there’s despair, hope. Where there’s struggles, encouragement. Where there’s darkness, light. And where there’s sadness, joy” ⇒ Moreover, believers are called to emulate the boundless grace of Jesus, providing a refuge for the lost and the seeking. This entails not only welcoming them with open arms but also walking alongside them in their journey towards healing and redemption. By fostering an environment of support and empathy, the church can serve as a lighthouse in the storm, guiding individuals back to the embrace of a loving Savior. In essence, the community of believers should be a place where the grace of God is palpable, where every soul, regardless of their past, is met with the transformative power of the Gospel. This is the essence of the Christian calling—to be a vessel of hope, an anchor for the hurting, and a testament to the unending love of Christ.
Additional Notes & Applications
Teaches when were down and hurting we have someone who can really help us and His name is Jesus. One of the hard things can also be that even those who come to our side and want to help cannot really do too much for us. They can listen. They can be encouraging. But there is not really much else they can do. We need someone who can really help and that is Jesus.
Warns how hope can’t be found in the world. Hope can’t found in money, in family, in friends, in relationships, but only in Jesus. When we are down and hurting, we need someone who can really help us. One of the hard things can also be that even those who come to our side and want to help cannot really do too much for us. They can listen. They can be encouraging. But there is not really much else they can do. We need someone who can really help. This why we need a Savior in Jesus.
Putting our hope in Jesus is not just waiting for Him to come back. Yes we hope for that. And were going to love when that happens! But we need to put our hope in His name now and follow His ways and His truth.
