Extended Sermon Notes
“Calls for unwavering compassion, no matter the objection, no matter the controversy, no matter who’s watching.”⇒ Will you challenging societal norms no matter who gets offended. It takes courage to stand against the tide, to reach out and show kindness and compassion, even when the world seems determined to cast stones. Will you offer assistance, prioritizing goodness over rigid objections and complaints. Will you still bless and help people even if it upsets others? Know your going to feel opposition, but don’t let it intimidate you into stepping back or caving in. Will you do what is right and good no matter who doesn’t like it? Will you still carry out God’s will even if it makes you unpopular?
“Teaches what God commands, God enables. (If God commands you, He’ll give you the ability to do it!) “ ⇒ If God calls you to love, to submit, to serve, He will equip you with the strength and grace to fulfill that calling. If God says husbands love your wives, you can love your wife. You may say ya, but have you met my wife. If God says wives submit to your husbands. Oh not my husband, have you seen him, he’s so messed up. If God says you can submit to your husbands, He’ll give you that ability.
“Calls for a faith that reaches out despite apparent obstacles and disabilities. (Will you obey without argument or excuse)” ⇒ In life, we are often faced with obstacles that seem insurmountable, challenges that threaten to paralyze us with fear or doubt. Yet, it is in these moments of adversity that our true faith are revealed. Imagine the courage it took for that man to step forward, to defy societal norms, and to seek healing despite the potential backlash from those around him. His willingness to embrace vulnerability and take that leap of faith led to his miraculous restoration. In the same way, we are called to confront our fears, to challenge the status quo, and to pursue what is right and true, even when it is not popular. Will you stretch beyond your comfort zone, stretch beyond your fears, and reach out for the extraordinary. It is time to live boldly, to act with unwavering compassion, and to trust that with faith, all things are possible. The journey may be difficult, but the rewards are beyond measure. So, take a deep breath, step forward, and let the healing power of faith guide you to a life of purpose and fulfillment.
“Even today, people can reach out to Jesus and have they’re withered lives restored. Will you reach out to Jesus, allowing Him to restore your dead marriage, your broken relationships, you paralyzing fear, your crushed dreams. ⇒ Before you can receive your breakthrough, your healing, your liberation, your miracle, you need to respond, step forward, and reach out in faith no matter how scary or impossible it may seem. If you are going to experience what God has for you, you have to stretch beyond your limitations. You have to stretch beyond your opinions. You have to stretch beyond your revelation and go where you have never gone before so you can do what you have never done before. It is time for you to stretch. Stretch in your perception of God. Stretch in your understanding of yourself. Stretch beyond your situation.
More Notes & Applications
Interesting to note; because Jesus healed the man only by a word, He therefore gave the Pharisees no ground for accusation. When Jesus did this miracle, He did not break any of the Pharisees’ laws. Other times when He did miracles on the Sabbath day, He did. But here He does not touch the man, He does not rub any mud on his arm, He does not do any work. He does not tell the man to do any work. He does not say to him, “Carry your bed” or whatever. He simply says, “Stand up, stretch forth your hand.” He speaks. And what they had come to catch Him in, working on the Sabbath so that they could accuse Him of that, they cannot. The man is healed by an invisible work of God’s power. His hand is restored just like the other. And all that Jesus did was speak the word.
