Matthew 10:42…….Working
10:42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water (Expresses the smallest act of kindness or service.) to one of these little ones (Not children, but of station, rank, power, and importance.) because he is my disciple, (3101-Leaner, pupil. student. Suggests out of regard for being one of Christ’s own, or in recognition of their Apostleship.) I tell you the truth, (Expresses a strong confirmation and reliability.) he will certainly not lose his reward.” (Expresses to be eternally rewarded by God, divinely appreciated. Is meant to encourage charitableness towards all of Jesus’ disciples, not just the most important ones.)
Continued From Book
Encourages those who don’t think they are important just because they are not a great “Preacher” or “Evangelists” or “Missionary”. (Don’t see yourself as having no value just because your not in the spotlight.) ⇒ You may not feel as if you are important in the work of the kingdom of Jesus. You may not be in the limelight, as it were; and that since you support the ministry of God’s kingdom behind the scenes, you may feel as if you are of lesser importance. But here, Jesus lets you know just how important you are! If you genuinely receive those Jesus has sent, and give yourself to the support of the work of the Gospel that they perform, you will share in their reward together with them
Even today, you may say; I don’t have much to give, I don’t have a lot of money, what can I do? That may be true. But you can still give a hug to someone who is hurting? You can give a listening ear, an encouraging word, going out of your way to say something kind to someone. Volunteering at the homeless shelter These are just a few examples, but I suspect there are opportunities to offer cups of cold water almost everywhere you look. ⇔ Have you been reluctant to share the Gospel with others because you thought you were especially insignificant? Maybe you thought your pastor, or a more learned Christian brother, might have success because he knows the Bible better than you, but you would certainly fail. Or maybe you think the famous football player who is an outspoken Christian could convince them of the truth of Christ but not regular old you. It could be that you think another believer who is more knowledgeable and season of life, would be better at sharing the good news with them than you, so you say nothing. In God’s eyes you are one of the “little ones” as far as disciples go. You must remember that God often works through the “little ones” and “the least of these” to grow His kingdom, though it flies in the face of worldly understanding (1 Corinthians 1:26-31).
