Matthew 5:5….Working
5:5 Blessed (See V. 3) are the meek, (4239-One who is mild and humble, power under control, a wild horse that’s been broken. Humble, gentle, patient, submissive, flexible, yielded, content, God-controlled.) for they will inherit the earth. (Does not mean believers will own the world, but rather of ruling and reigning with Christ when He establishes a New heaven & New earth.-{cf. Rev. 21:7}. Or expresses those who can find satisfaction and contentment in whatever situation they’re in, knowing they’re going to have it all one day anyway!)
Additional Notes & Applications
Displays one who recognizes his own emptiness and need to fall at God’s feet
Teaches how Meekness is an essential quality that finally and completely causes a person to believe in, trust, depend on, and obey God.
Displays a person who knows he is not the answer, God is, so he is willing to be used by God. He does not need to overcome or overwhelm, for he knows that God will do all of that.
Teaches how meekness is an important element in turning us away from ourselves toward God. A meek person can admit that they are insufficient to cope with the complexities, pressures, and obstacles of life, and they trust that God is able and willing to sustain them and guide them and protect them.
To get a better understanding of Meekness think about a horse that has not yet been broken: when someone tries to get on it, it bucks and kicks. It’s not used to a person riding it. But after its broken, the horse has a dignity and poise. The animal is at peace, and it is altogether different. We too by nature we’re all like the unbroken horse. We resist God’s hand. We kick against Him. As long as we are fighting God, we cannot experience peace within ourselves. As long as we’re at war in ourselves, the turmoil will spill over onto other people in our family and in our workplace.
