Matthew 1:24-25…Ready

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

• Demonstrates the need for absolute obedience in all that God commands. (Will you have the same type of faith to obey what God commands, even if there was no logical way to explain or understand the situation your facing, yet your still willing to chose to trust God and step out in faith?)

• Teaches just as Joseph chose to listen to the angel and accepted those words even though he knew life for him and Mary was going to get a whole lot more difficult because of Mary’s unexpected pregnancy. They were mostly likely ostracized by their community and possibly even the temple where they worshiped. Yet Joseph was willing to make this sacrifice because he had heard and accepted the will of God. (Will you stay following God’s will even if it met that it would lead to greater hardships and more difficult sacrifices down the road?)
